Echobelly adalah a Rock Inggris band, memulai debutnya pada tahun 1994 dengan album mereka Everyone's Got One. Mereka sering dibandingkan dengan pirang and the Smiths, dengan Morrissey menjadi penggemar grup.
Bagian paling menonjol dari formula kesuksesan Echobelly adalah vokalis Sonya Madan, yang juga penulis lirik grup tersebut. Lahir di Delhi, India, sebelum pindah ke Inggris pada usia dua tahun, Madan memiliki latar belakang pop yang tidak lazim star. Pendidikannya membuat musik rock menjadi pilihan yang tidak biasa baginya saat masih muda dan dia tidak menghadiri konser rock pertamanya sampai dia masih kuliah. Pada tahun 1990 dia bertemu Glenn Johansson, seorang gitaris dari Swedia. Dalam wawancara radio dengan Janice Long, pada BBC Radio Wales, pada Desember 2017, ia mengaku awalnya orang tuanya merasa sulit menerima pilihan kariernya.
