American Football

American Football adalah seorang Amerika indie rock band dari Urbana, Illinois, awalnya aktif dari tahun 1997 hingga 2000. Mereka melakukan reformasi pada tahun 2014.

Band ini dibentuk oleh gitaris, bassis dan penyanyi Mike Kinsella (sebelumnya dari Cap'n Jazz and Joan of Arc dan saat ini dari Owen), gitaris Steve Holmes (juga anggota Geese), dan drummer and trumpet pemain Steve Lamos (sebelumnya dari One Up Downstairs, pernah menjadi anggota the Firebird Band dan Edward Burch & the Staunch Characters, dan saat ini dari Angsa dan DMS). Lamos meninggalkan band pada tahun 2021 tetapi bergabung kembali pada tahun 2023.

Meskipun umur awal kelompok ini pendek, mereka album debut self-titled menjadi salah satu yang paling diakui emo and math rock catatan zamannya. Setelah bersatu kembali pada tahun 2014, dengan sepupu Kinsella Nate Kinsella bergabung dengan band, American Football telah merilis dua album lagi, keduanya memiliki nama yang sama dengan debut mereka: American Football / LP2 (2016) dan American Football / LP3 (2019).
